Yorkshire Branch WFA Artois Walking Tour
This years branch tour will focus on the battles in the Artois region between Arras and Aubers Ridge, through a series of walks we will study the 1915 battles of Notre Dame de Lorette, Festubert, Neuve Chapelle, Aubers Ridge, Loos in addition to the 1917 Hill 70 fighting, a joint British Canadian Offensive that stands literally in the shadow of Vimy Ridge.
Clive Harris will be leading the tour as in previous years and whilst there will be a focus on Yorkshire units, private requests to visit specific areas of interest are most welcome.
The accommodation whilst in France will be based at the centrally located and very comfortable Hotel Mercure in Arras. In addition the Hull/Zeebrugge ferry includes two overnight ferry crossings and affords us the best part of four days on the battlefields.
The cost of £725 per person is 'bed and breakfast' and based on two sharing a hotel room / ferry cabin (anyone wishing not to share will be able to request a single room, for a supplement). Pick ups in Yorkshire will be announced in the coming weeks.
